Hello Readers,
At this moment I am using Roger CPA Review to retake Auditing. My previous course was Becker CPA Review, so for this post I will briefly compare the two courses. Keep in mind this is only for Auditing and this is my opinion.
First thing anyone will notice about Roger's review course is his high energy and humor. This is found throughout his lectures and can definitely keep you engaged. In Becker, although there some humor, its mostly straight forward cut and dry lecture. Becker uses powerpoint slides and mostly emphasizes on highlighting key sentences and writing out "key phrases," while Roger never mentions "double underline so it pops out for your final review." Roger uses a classroom-lecture style, where he will emphasize key topics and use a lot of modern real world examples (and jokes) to help explain difficult topics.
What I also like about Roger is that he repeats the most important concepts over and over. This frequency does help a lot in remembering key topics. Roger does have his own set of mnemonics, as so does Becker. I personally like Becker's mnemonics more, but I am already starting to remember Roger's mnemonics thanks to the repetition in his lectures. Another small observation I noticed about Roger is, he doesn't really read word for word off the textbook like Becker. Becker mostly reads word for word off the textbook, where Roger does very little of this. There are also NO supplementary readings in Roger, which can eliminate the frustration of "why did I spend so much money on Becker, when they make us read extra material."
Both review courses go over a set of multiple choice questions & TBS, but Roger does spend more time on the TBS. Becker textbook does have more information and reading in their books compared to Roger, to where I did notice you are almost forced to open and read the Wiley Book (which is included with the Roger Review course). Becker has a solid structure and outline format. In that aspect, I think Becker does a good job.

Great insight! Roger's enthusiasm is unmatched, which can be a good thing when you don't feel like studying. Thanks for sharing.

Coming from FAR with Yaeger, this is exactly why I picked Roger of Becker. I watch Becker's sample video and saw too much similarity between Yeager and Becker. I need the push and the motivation Roger gives!!!
